And to those of you who think that the restaurant owners are “ripping off” their staff and guests, did you know that the average restaurant only profits an average of 30% or their yearly sales? And that is only if the restaurant has a liquor and beer license too help bring the profit margin up. If you dont want to tip you will have no one to serve your families on Mothers Day when you all want to go out to eat your family; or on Sunday after you give your cash to the church. If you dont tip, fine. Dont tip. But dont complain either when the price of going to Ruby Tuesdays and paying $8 dollars for a burger and fries goes up. And why do you think the price of going out to eat goes up? So the owners can pay to keep their staff working for you, serving you and your families during the holidays.

If you are a regular at any of the service industries and not tipping, you have been eating some nasty $h!t. You are costing the servers money, as said the front end staff tip out other employees and often the management whether they make the money or not. DO NOT PISS OF THE PEOPLE WHO CONTROL YOUR FOOD! Also as previously stated, if these establishments did not utilize the tipping system, you would not be able to afford the convenience of eating out.

I didn’t even finish reading some of these comments because ALL I hear is BLAH BLAH BLAH I’M A SELFISH BASTARD!!!! Get over yourselves you obviously went out to eat for a reason you lazy bastards you didn’t WANT to cook THE FOOD yourselves so give a little respect, and tip!! Same goes for baristas, McDonalds, etc… Quit being fucking CHEAP!! Don’t have the cash to tip? THEN DON’T GO OUT TO FUCKING EAT ETC… Ignorant pricks!!!

i’m 17 and i work behind a counter at a fast food place. I don’t expect any tips. just BEING POLITE, not swearing at me, not insulting me, not talking on your cell phone while you order from me, and not getting impatient if something doesn’t go your way is A BIG ENOUGH TIP FOR ME.

if you hate your job, quit it, get something else where you don’t have to put up with assholes and all those chores.

in a restaurant where you have to cash out a certain amount of tips, i understand, i tip very well. but when it comes to cafes, dude, did you sign up for the tip? not a good plan.

Should you tip because someone did their job? No. Should you tip because someone did their job with excellent customer service? Yes. Simple as that.
